Paleontology has always been dear to my heart, Since I could remember I have always loved Dinosaurs and been fascinated with fossils. My work with veterans and other organizations made me realize how much history means and that science and history are not being taught to our students accurately. I remember as a child reading the history of the American revolution, Paul Revere's ride, Betsy Ross designing the first American flag, Only later on to realize the legend were not true. I support veterans in schools, for high school students not to know  anything of WW2, Korea or Vietnam I consider appalling. Here these were recent events sorta speak and students did not know they occurred!  I even had a science teacher in High School tell me that the Cenozoic era was before the Mesozoic, that their in alphabetical order so, my GSA geologic time scale is wrong.
This started my quest to teach, because if teachers don't know science and history then what are we teaching our students? Everything we teach is based on history and science, our language, math and anything one can imagine all have their links to some event in history and some discovery in science.  How can we expect our students to be good moral citizens if they don't understand the world around them.  Earning my 2nd degree as a school teacher was a challenge, not so much for the classes, but having to temporarily give up integrity. Something no one should have to do for a degree or a job. I believe in doing things right and common scene. But when your told to comply to the "click" Its hard for me to hold back when someones violating my right or that of a students. Laws and regulations aren't made just to cut down trees. Their made to make us equal and safe, and when your told to disregard and comply with the "click" That's liability! and something we ALL need to fix.   I just hope My little effort in the huge world can make a difference and make a better world, one classroom at a time.
